Renoise is an expandable Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) based on a Tracker Interface™. Renoise lets you record, compose, edit, process and render production-quality (upto 96khz - 32bit : WAV/AIFF/FLAC/Etc ) audio using a tracker-based interface and embedded widgets. It features a wide range of built-in audio processors, DSP chain functions, automation, alongside support for all commonly used VST instrument and effect plug-in formats.
In a tracker system, the music runs from top to bottom in an grid, instead of conventional way (left to right ) where in sampled audio and midi is further chained into tracks or pattern. Several patterns and sub-patterns when arranged in a certain order make up a song. Editing in a pattern grid lends itself very well to a fast and immediate keyboard-based workflow.
